DOUGLASKELLEYSHOW LIST

GOESONSABBATICALTHANK YOU !

I've learned to never say never, so let me say this. On November 1st the Douglas Kelley Show List is taking a sabbatical. There may be still be the occasional email list from time and time when I feel uninspired (to recommend shows that I think are in need review or am paid to tout some tarted up hussy of a dog show), but other than that I feel it is time to give myself a rest from ALL this. I've interfered in your social life long enough.

In the future I'm going to be more like a normal person and walk around the galleries during the day. I did that last Thursday and I saw three delightfully disturbing shows... ..shows that you might have missed?

1. Airtight Plan for Killing: Adam Stennett, Ryan McGinness, Damian Loeb, and Nate Lowman [Sometimes contemplative, sometimes political, always slightly elusive, the work involved centers on figuration while placing emphasis on signs, tension, and the concept of the crucial moment] at Buia Gallery, 541 W. 23rd St., 6-8 (The Adam Stennett mouse, and Nate Lowman, paintings are the best, even though the Ryan McGinness super technicolor power booter gross out college barfomatic video that you can set your watch to is something you don't see every day? Not that you would, but it is interesting.)

2. The United States Of America vs. Alfredo Martinez, Curated By James Fuentes at The Proposition, 559 West 22nd St., 6-8 The only forger I know of who is doing hard time at Riker's? I think he may have at long last found oeuvre in the portraiture of men of color painted with instant coffee.

3. The fantastically brilliant Reynold Reynolds triple screen war movie melange at I-Beam on 22nd St. (Like 20 war movies boiled down to pure nasty visual splendor and hackneyed absurdist agony. He's in something tonight- see list. I was very impressed with this video.)

Thank you very much, see you on the round about, and remember I will always Love YOU so,

Sincerely yours,

DK

NEW (AND LAST) PHONY BIO

Douglas Ward Kelley is perhaps best known from his four year run as a fixture on MNN. In addition to hosting a weekly art & entertainment show featuring celebrity interviews and art videos, D.K. has hosted the DKS Top Ten Countdown, consistently one of the MNN's highest rated shows. DK, a fine arts major at Cooper Union, began his broadcasting career at age fifteen at MNN in New York. While he has moved over to television full-time, D.K. returns to his first passion of radio whenever he is able as a featured personality on New York City's top rated shows whenever he can slip past the guards.

In addition DK can be seen weekly on NOT-ART TVs entertainment show "Chelsea & Brooklyn At Large" and heard occasionally nationwide as an on-air personality on NotSoSirius Satellite Radio's Not-US-2. He has become a fixture on New York City television as well, interviewing art's biggest stars for MNN flagship arts show, The Douglas Kelley Show and served as a special correspondent for the internationally syndicated Smele-Tele-Pictures shows OVERRIPE and "THE PANOPTICON! Tabloid News Live." He continues to host various art specials including the worldwide television/web production of "ArtBarTabAid" from Rudy's serving as the U.S. counterpart to London Grocho Club "ArtBarTabAid" host Damian Hirst and is stars in Zwarner/YBA's forthcoming worldwide television production of "CURB LANE SPEEDER." D.K. served as the celebrity spokesperson on Vip Trevel's nationwide media tour launching of YBA, the Home Game, and he is featured in the coffee table book Artthrob, 500 Hundred Years of Beautiful Lecherous Artists.

In his spare time D.K. putters about in his studio for charity, mumbling to himself for celebrity causes.
